Growth is a constant. Just by being alive we are in a constant state of development. To live is to learn and to learn is to grow!
We’re always learning and experiencing new things: sometimes we meet people who tell us incredible stories, sometimes we read a life-changing book, sometimes we push ourselves to the limit, but regardless, each day brings with it new “stuff”. New stuff that we didn’t have before. New ideas that we didn’t know existed. New “I never thought of that” moments. New learning through observation and participation.
I think personal development is most simply defined as “growth in all areas of life“. It’s about becoming the best people we can be. It’s about becoming the people we want to be! Both are within our grasp.
In any area of life, the direction we grow is up to us. We can direct our growth and focus on whatever we’d like. We can read books that teach us what we want to know. We can interact with people whose ideas interest us. It’s essential to keep growing, however, and to grow in the most meaningful way possible according to your situation.
Opportunities are all around us. Our job is to be ready for them when they come. Of course, if we knew when they were coming we’d make sure we were ready…but in life we’ll never know when they’re coming. Therefore, grow every day. Grow every chance you can. Learn every lesson you can. Become the best you can be. Develop in all areas. That way, you can handle anything that comes your way…at any time.
The resources in this part of the blog are videos/articles/books that I consider food for growth. Yes – anything leads to growth – but these will be meat and potatoes of personal development. I consider anything I link to be valuable food for thought and I’m open to suggestions along the way! Thanks
