Final exams? Done. Errands on campus? Done. Moving out of my apartment and a three-hour drive home? Done! I am now officially on summer vacation, and it feels amazing!
As I write this post, I’m eating mini chocolate chip muffins and sitting Indian-style on my real bed, in my real house: life is good
Family bonding is already well underway. My dad and I had the usual chit-chat during the car ride home, and upon arriving, I was warmly greeted by my mom. She was waiting by the window (literally), which I thought was the cutest thing. Unfortunately, we lost my brother to the enticing lure of his bed, which got the best of him about ten minutes before we arrived. But at least the cats were still awake! In fact, they’ve already given my luggage a thorough sniffing and one of them is currently attempting to co-author this post by usurping my keyboard!
It is certainly good to be back. And I just can’t help but add a hint of sentimental value to this post. So here it goes: I am grateful, very grateful, for having a home to come back to. Heck, I’m grateful that I even had a school to go to in the first place. It’s also great just to be in the presence of loved ones, to feel welcomed and missed. I feel the love, and plan to reciprocate it. Not just over the summer, but every day. Always.
Okay, feeling good
So now what? Good question! Well, first we go to bed. Sleep is good! Tomorrow we unpack the car and start the unpacking, cleaning, and re-organizing phase of relocation. That’s a slightly less exciting part. But hey, it has to be done.
After that..and this is a super-anticipated activity…it’s time for the “Summer Goals” list, complete with a step-by-step action plan to turn it into a “Things Accomplished” list. Can’t wait! There’s so much I want to do this summer. In fact, I tried to briefly describe them in this post, but let’s just say it’s more elaborate than I thought. I have a feeling it might take a while…
On that note, my bed is calling my name. Not necessarily because I’m tired, but because I’m so anxious to sleep in my real bed again. There’s nothing like it. Except for maybe a king size bed in a hotel. Those are really cool.
But anyway, where was I? Oh, right: it is SO good to be home
