Move-in madness

A smooth transition between residences? I think not! Well, not at first. Yesterday I moved in to my apartment with my roommate and my parents came along to help. The first bump in the road was that my parents didn’t like the place. It’s not necessarily the Hampton’s but it’s o.k., it’s kind of old and slightly under-maintained but it’s livable. Then we realized that the fridge was not only teeny tiny but looked gross, and the top half was literally a frozen block of ice. I built the furniture but had particular trouble with my dresser, mostly because it had to be built while laying down and it’s huge. Space was tight. The next morning I took out my soggy stuff from the fridge (ice was dripping on it) and decided to take matters into my own hands.  With a flat head screw driver and a hammer I began to chisel my refrigerator. This was going great, until apparently I hit a coil. It made a “tsssssssssssss” sound and this yellow liquid that smells similar to gasoline sprayed for about 15 seconds while I panicked. Someone who lives in the same building luckily said it wasn’t as bad as I thought but the fridge would never work again and the smell would linger. Then, as I was waiting for the maintenance guys, I cut my finger pretty badly while trying to wipe something down. At this point I wasn’t too happy but I was trying to stay optimistic so I prayed for some guidance and perhaps a change of fortune. It’s amazing what prayer can do! They Bible says to ask and we shall receive, and boy did God deliver! The maintenance guys showed up, saw the fridge, and went to go get a new one. They showed up about 45 minutes later with a full size brand new fridge!! Not a dorm size fridge but one that goes in a real house! I was expecting a new, but tiny fridge, so you can imagine my excitement. Keep in mind this whole fridge is just for me and my roommate. To top things off, later that evening a seat opened in a class I wanted and I picked it up! Yay for change of fortune! Thank you God! :) Here are some pics of the crib:
